Sony does new MMORPG EverQuest Next revealed

Sony is the latest addition to the EverQuest game series announced: EverQuest Next. The mmorpg can be seen as a reboot of the franchise and will play his charge. Thanks to the voxel engine it should be possible to significantly affect the environment.

Developer Sony Online Entertainment called EverQuest Next a “reimagining” of the series. The PC game is still in the land of Norrath players and although the previous games will recognize names and places, there will be a lot of things have changed.

The ‘free to play’ game is built on the basis of the Forge Light engine and uses voxels to render the world. This means that the world is made up of three-dimensional pixels, so it can be large parts of the world destroyed by the player. Think of craters in the ground when using a forc spell, tearing down a wall around a city or disabling a bridge.

May be an example of how things destroyed

Not all damage caused by players is permanent, in some situations the world will fix itself after a certain time. This must be prevented that a player makes it possible for others to come. At certain places

SOE stresses that EQ Next itself will not play back. Only at the surface of the world With the conventional voxeltechnologie is also rendered the portion of the world that is located under the ground. Players will have to descend deep into the ground for certain missions and for some missions will be properly looked informed.

EQ Next will not work with a traditional leveling system. In the beginning, the player gets to choose from forty different classes or professions, as well as each player can choose which abilities themselves and weapon skills he or she wants to work. For example, may be formed according to the makers truly unique characters with a unique set of properties.

Some characters and environments from the game

Another point where the developers emphasize the sandbox nature of the game: everyone can decide how he or she plays the game itself. In addition, all the choices you make have consequences: npc’s example will remember your actions. Those npc’s according SOE moreover smarter, they will act on the basis of certain interests. As an example gives the developer an orc you will only attack if you carry large amounts of gold with you.

When EverQuest Next out is not yet known, but interested parties can already register for the beta , and input to give to the developers. During the development period, there is a beta for EverQuest Next Landmark, it will start in the winter. Landmark is a cross between a sandbox game and an editor: players can own buildings and other objects make. The most beautiful creations will then be used in the full game.
