Sony is pushing an update that allows installation

of Kodi on TVs back to models in the US
Sony has started updating the firmware on its TVs, allowing users to install Kodi on the TVs with Android TV again. The update fixes a bug that Kodi incorrectly saw as a “kernel object.”

The firmware update is available for American models, but does not appear to have appeared for Dutch TVs. According to Engadget , Sony does not want to say exactly how the fix works, but Kodi is no longer mistaken for ‘kernel object’ after the update, after which users may not install the app.

Sony acknowledged the bug in its version of Android TV in January and already promised an update . Users were able to work around the bug by giving the file a different name before installation without the letter ‘ko’ in it. It is unknown when Dutch models will receive the update exactly.
