Sony has announced that it is required for online play No Man’s Sky not a PlayStation Plus subscription. The console must of course be connected to the Internet to retrieve information from the database of the game or as to write off.

Because in No Man’s Sky chances are so small that you encounter other players online, Sony sees the game as a single player game, it is clear from the mention of the game in the PlayStation Store. For that reason, Sony has also determined that there is no subscription to PlayStation Plus to be able to play the game online, overtook Game Informer. Also in the Steam Store is the game as a single player game listed .

Technically, No Man’s Sky an online game, where you play along with other players. However, it is primarily a game in which you can discover endless stars and planets, with countless different life forms. All newly discovered life forms are stored in a central database of the game. Discover a life form that has not been found by another player, you may come up with a name for it. That name, however, can only be passed to the central database as the PlayStation 4 on which the game will be played is connected to the Internet.

However, the latter is not a requirement to play the game. It can also be played offline, then there is not only data exchanged with the database. The game is made by small Hello Games and appear on August 10 for PlayStation 4. The Windows version will appear on August 12. The game does not appear on other platforms.
