Sony starts selling smart home remote control with E-Ink screen in Japan




Sony has been in homeland Japan started selling the “House HomeController. This universal remote control is from its own crowdfunding platform and now the road to regular sales found.

Sony has an order page for his House HomeController put on its Japanese site and requires 27,950 yen, converted 219 euros for the controller. Delivery starts next month. The ‘House’ is a remote control not only the TV and stereo system but also for lighting and air conditioner.

The remote measuring 123x68x24mm and weighs 130 grams. The battery capacity is 1500mAh and thus the accessory would last about a month to send in a hundred times a day of a signal. The House has a USB port and supports infrared and Bluetooth 4.0.

The advantage of using a screen with electronic ink according to Sony that the screen can always stay on and users themselves can customize the layout of the buttons at will. The accessory comes from Sony’s New Business Creation Department and successfully went through the crowdfunding step on the First Flight platform of the Japanese manufacturer. It is unknown if and when Sony will sell the remote control outside of Japan.
