NASA signed a long term agreement with Boeing and SpaceX , according to which the contracting companies to develop means delivering astronauts to the International Space Station, and will address other important aerospace applications.

It was only a matter of time, because the US-Russian relations in terms of space has long been bursting at the seams. Boeing and SpaceX have become an alternative to Russian companies, whose services are used by experts before NASA.

In the next three years, both companies will receive funding of $ 6.8 billion, of which SpaceX will receive 2.6 billion, and Boeing – 4,2 billion. Their plans for self-delivery to the ISS astronauts Contractors promise to implement by 2017.

Boeing is working on finalizing his debut in space project-protracted – manned transportation capsule CST-100. On this spaceship company has been more than four years, and the work is nearing completion.

SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, in turn, continues to test its own spacecraft SpaceX Dragon , originally designed for the delivery and return of payloads and people into orbit and back. Let us recall that Dragon has passed successful tests and in 2012 was the first apparatus for commercial purposes, docked with the ISS.

Under the program, each company agrees to successfully complete six successful launches. But to pass the mandatory certification by NASA in 2017, Boeing and SpaceX engineers will be required to demonstrate the highest standards of quality, reliability and safety of their designs.

If the company successfully prove themselves under the space program in the future they will entrust the development and support of other, even more expensive projects.
