SpaceX gives developer commissioned to build Hyperloop test tube

SpaceX, the company Aecom given the contract for the construction of the Hyper-Loop test tube. It is intended that the participating teams, including one from TU Delft, in the second half of 2016 to test their Hyperloop Pods in practice.

The test tube is about 1.6 kilometers long and comes in Hawthorne, California to lie next to the headquarters of SpaceX. The amount Aecom get to build the test tube was not disclosed. The company said to have started with the design of the vacuum tube, which has a diameter of 1.8 meters. In the spring of 2016 the actual construction to begin.

According to The Verge, the Aecom coming from Los Angeles one of the largest developers in the world with more than a hundred thousand employees. The company employs numerous projects to his name, ranging from hospitals to stadiums, bridges and other buildings and infrastructure, including the new One World Trade Center in New York.

If the test tube is completed, the teams participating in the competition of SpaceX can to build the best Hyperloop Pod, test their prototype. Elon Musk, founder of PayPal, SpaceX and Tesla, presented in 2013 his idea for the Hyper Loop: a cheaper transport system should be faster and more efficient than current vehicles. The objective is to create a tube from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The distance of more than 500km should be traveled in less than thirty minutes by the Hyperloop.
