Amazon has introduced an interesting novelty – Echo compact speaker system with the functionality of “smart” voice assistant. Now the owners of the device can with voice commands to control the media player iTunes, and also music services Spotify and Pandora.


Announced late last year, Amazon Echo plays the role of the speaker and voice assistant. Users can give commands to obtain a variety of information, say, about the situation in the financial markets, weather, world events and so on. Seven built-in microphones and advanced noise reduction system ensures that Echo «hear” user from anywhere in the room. To manage the device, you can use a smartphone or tablet with iOS or Android, and also does on a PC.


Gadget has a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 82 mm and a height of 232. Inside are 2-inch broadband emitter, a 2.5-inch woofer and Bass reflex. Volume adjustment is carried out by turning the top.

The speaker connects to your home network via wireless Wi-Fi. You can play music via streaming audio service. Built-in Bluetooth controller allows to obtain the composition through a smartphone or tablet.


Voice assistant functionality is implemented on the basis of a special cloud platform, server uses Amazon Web Services. With the release of the last update Amazon Echo learned to control your music in iTunes, Spotify and Pandora. As before, it is necessary to activate the device Pronounce «Alexa». After that, you can ask to start the music track switch, inquire about the weather or the latest news. Echo receives information from various sources, including Wikipedia.

Amazon says that thanks to the cloud platform mate over time adapts to a particular user, adjusting to his manner of speech and preferences.

Currently, Amazon Echo can be ordered by invitation only, leaving the application on a special page of the company. The cost of the gadget is 200 dollars.
