Splatoon – Online shooting with Nintendo

Splatoon is a game of two halves. The campaign is classic Nintendo, with lots of little challenges and classic boss fights clincher. As you expect Mario and Zelda, though you’re here armed with a rifle where thick blobs of paint coming out. Online Splatoon is an entirely different game. Then you have the solutions you’ve learned in the campaign not so much. Online it’s four against four in ordinary or ranked matches where you can gain experience to obtain more weapons. The beauty is that these new weapons are not so much stronger, but more and more you can choose the weapon that suits you. It runs in Splatoon not frags, but to cover the largest possible part of the arena with the color of your team. This means that opportunities can turn quickly and at the same time that you can also play a role if you are not such a great gunfighter. This game has no voice chat and you can not determine the online Turf War with whom you come into the team, makes Splatoon as a serious team based shooter losing weight. That is not the purpose of Nintendo. Splatoon is much more of a party game in which everyone can participate to have fun. Nintendo has succeeded in this aim, although it can wait in the lobby lead to considerable frustration.

It very nearly became the world had never heard of Splatoon. The members of the team responsible in their own studio from Nintendo for the game struggled to convince their boss to the potential of the project. That boss is none other than Shigeru Miyamoto, and the creator of both Mario and Zelda saw little in the project. Not surprising, because Splatoon is a game that you will not soon Nintendo expected.

Who the game in a few words trying to describe, amounts to “an online multiplayer shooter in which two teams of four players compete against each other.” Shooting? Team-based online multiplayer? It is indeed not what you expect from Nintendo. Who would have predicted a year ago that the company behind Kirby and Pikmin would bring such a game to market, was declared insane. Yet it is precisely the description that fits Splatoon, though Miyamoto and his team obviously given a firm twist to the concept. Or rather, there is a thick Nintendo sauce poured over the definition. A sauce in sugar sweet colors, dripping with thick globs of the walls.
