Spotify hint at new features for paying users

Spotify comes with new features to keep. Paying users satisfied That promises the main business development of the popular music streaming service in an interview with Tweakers. The last time made Spotify increasingly paid features for free.

Spotify (sharper) “We are working on the development of new features that make it better-paid subscription,” says Gary Liu, head of business development Spotify, Tweakers at the Next Web conference in Amsterdam. Liu can not indicate what features it will be precise. “But we will in the not too distant time doing some exciting announcements.”

In recent times, Spotify made a lot of features that were previously paid were available for free users, including the ability to listen. Unlimited and on smartphones Nevertheless, Liu believes that a paid subscription is still worthwhile. “For example, if you want to save your music offline or want to determine what you play on your smartphone itself,” said Liu. On smartphones users of the free version can only play playlists in shuffle mode.

Spotify subscribers pay ten euros per month for a premium account. The free version contains ads to cover costs. Until a few months ago, users were five euros per month a subscription where they could listen indefinitely and without ads, but since the disappearance of the listening limit is abolished subscription for new users.

While streaming services like Spotify, Rdio and Google All Access are popular among listeners, not all artists are equally happy. Thus, some artists complain that Spotify pays royalties that would be too low. “We return seventy percent of our revenue from the music labels. Complaining artists are a very, very small majority,” says Liu. “Hand there are many artists who are successful on Spotify. These are not only great artists, but also indie bands.”
