Starbucks comes with wireless charging stations in European locations




Coffee chain Starbucks will offer the ability to wirelessly charge phones. For this purpose, the PMA-standard is used. Initially only Starbucks locations in San Francisco features, but cities in Europe to follow next year.

Starbucks Starbucks makes use of Powermat charging points by Duracell, which will be built into tables. The rollout begins if known directly, but cities other than San Francisco to follow later. Then also Starbucks outlets in Europe at the turn, though it is not known which cities will be.

The Powermat charging points using the PMA standard. Which is a competitor of Qi, currently the standard for wireless charging that most supported. Include the Nexus 4 and 5, the LG G3 and Lumia phones only have support for Qi, and will therefore can not be charged in Starbucks locations. For some phones, including the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5S, a case can be purchased to make the phone fit for wireless charging.
