‘Streaming service Tidal has not paid any royalties for months’

Music streaming service Tidal has not paid any royalties for months, according to a Norwegian newspaper. A Norwegian label confirms the information. Apart from small labels, the record companies have also not been paid for according to the newspaper.

The small Norwegian label received Tidal money for the last time in October, writes Dagens Næringsliv , a Norwegian financial newspaper. Several sources claim that payments to the major international record companies are also lagging behind, although it is unknown whether this is also a backlog of more than half a year. Tidal has not yet responded to the article.

It is not the first time that the newspaper has accused Tidal of unfair practices. For example, the newspaper previously claimed that Tidal had exaggerated the streaming figures of two exclusive albums and therefore paid disproportionately more money to the record companies of those albums. The newspaper says it has had access to Tidal server logs , MusicBusinessWorldwide reports . Tidal has responded to that story and denies having tampered with figures.
