Street lighting in Las Vegas draws electricity from steps of passers-by

The Startup EnGoPlanet from New York has accommodated four innovative street lanterns in the American gambling complex Las Vegas. The luminaires cover their entire electricity demand by solar and moving energy. The current is used not only to operate the lamps themselves, but also to use some sensors which, for example, evaluate the air quality. USB connections for charging mobile devices can also be supplied in this way. The conversion of the movement energy takes place via special plates in the ground near the street lanterns. Whenever people walk across the panels, the integrated technology can generate 4 to 8 watts of electricity.
