Student Team Wins College Eindhoven Project B Challenge
Five students of university Fontys Eindhoven have an augmented reality app for reassuring hospital anxiety of children between 4 and 8 years, won the B Project Challenge. The audience award went to an app for aphasia patients.
Students Hogeschool Eindhoven Project B Challenge In total competed five student teams from four high schools in the finals for the prize for the most effective tool for people with disabilities or chronic illnesses. The award ceremony took place in leather hotel Monastery in Amersfoort.
The winning team ‘Dream IT’ devised an application for smartphones and tablets to help children make less afraid of hospitals. Using augmented reality app shows here and there in the hospital fantasy figures. These figures are called Siemie and Koko and emerge through markers scattered throughout the hospital. Children can also play with Siemie and Koko as they are still recovering.
This edition was also an audience award created for which Tweakers vote could be. The winning app came from the Express Me team of the Hogeschool Utrecht. The app helps people with aphasia to express themselves. Aphasia is a language disorder caused by brain damage. The disorder manifests itself in different ways, so that the disorder does not produce the same problem at all. This app helps to search for words and is specifically designed for people who suffer from word-finding problems.
Words with pictures and are organized into categories to quickly search. The app can pronounce words and transmit daily news via smart tiles. So can be shared directly certain key words from a news story.
The Project B Challenge was first held in 2014 with the release took place in 2015. The second edition started in 2015, whose awards ceremony Monday June 20, 2016. Tweakers organized the competition together with Sogeti and a few colleges. Of all the candidates colleges knew Hogeschool Avans, Fontys Eindhoven, Hogeschool Utrecht and the Hague University to get into the final.Viewing:-75
