SuperTuxKart gets new game engine for enhanced graphics performance




The developers of SuperTuxKart have introduced a new game engine. The graphics of existing jobs of the origin of Linux game would be substantially improved by the Antartica engine.

Only the meshes and textures are still processed at the original Irrlicht engine, it says in the blog post stated. New engine extra features are possible and further the existing racetracks have undergone a graphical update. The Antartica engine can include lights and shadows profitable. In addition, two reportedly extensive new tracks added. Cocoa Temple replaces Jungle Island and Gran Paradiso is the replacement Island.

In addition, online accounts are added. The developers behind SuperTuxKart claim that the function is a precursor to the multiplayer of the game. Mode which is still in development, but the team says that feature does most attention. With the online accounts players can already upload their performance and make contact with their friends.

Instead of version 1 of OpenGL is now using version 3.1. The developers would thus have access to more advanced functionality, but on the other hand, provides more bugs. The team says as many need feedback have to fix those bugs, because there is no budget to test everything himself.

SuperTuxKart is a free-to-play racing game for the PC. The game was previously called TuxKart. From 2006, the game has been updated annually, but the last modification dates back to December 2012. With version 0.8.2, however, change came in there.
