Supervisor ACM examines market power of video sites like YouTube and Dumpert
Supervisor ACM will conduct research into the power that video streaming services like YouTube, Facebook and Dumpert have received recently. Because they collect a lot of data and know so much about users, ACM wants to know whether there against can and must occur.
The investigation will determine whether the Competition ACM is a useful tool to protect users’ privacy online, writes the regulator. Moreover, the supervisor find out whether data of users will be a source of power over the market. ACM suspect so, because by users of video streaming sites data to personalize their services better and thereby gain an even greater competitive edge.
In addition, ACM is looking at the revenue models of sites like YouTube, Facebook, and NLZiet Dumpert. Moreover, the Dutch watchdog will look at how companies advertise on the sites, the online videos spread and what data companies collect about users.
ACM suspects that video platforms with strong market power to block possibly smaller initiatives that position and so limit competition. It does not appear that the regulator specifically wants to tackle short-term video services.Viewing:-111
