Survarium: shooter from the creators of Stalker
Between all the violence in Euromaidan and the annexation of the Crimea in, you could almost forget that in Ukraine simply working, and part of that work is done in game development studios. One of those studios is Vostok Games. The Kiev-based development studio consists largely of people who worked in the past for GSC Game Worlds, the developer of the Stalker games. After a tumultuous period in 2012, a group of employees chose to continue independently.
That team had already some time sitting in the development of Stalker 2 at that time. The rights to the name remained at GSC, but the project was owned by the developers themselves, and so went along. Nevertheless Survarium for almost everything made new, though the Vostok Engine based on the engine that was meant for Stalker 2. Coincidence or not, the typical ‘Stalker-sphere “is strongly present in Survarium. Further, let the games themselves, but limited compared with each other. Survarium ultimately promises to contain solo where players can explore, as has happened in Stalker. The wafer-thin story plays a very limited role in the multiplayer mode of Survarium, so we can already conclude after some hours playing with the beta version of the game. Players in the game to join a certain faction by wearing the appropriate clothing and missions to perform, but they are such a covenant is never required and never really binding. Ultimately, it’s mostly about winning individual pots and shooting down enemies, as in so many other games is the case.
