Survey: Teachers want computer science as a school subject
If one surveyed 502 teachers from the secondary stage 1 as the basis for Germany as a basis, one can note: the majority wants apparently computer science in school as a compulsory subject. BITKOM interviewed teachers, came out the following results: Around three-quarters (73 percent) of teachers agree with the requirement to nationwide to introduce computer science as a compulsory subject. It supports almost half (45 percent) of respondents who claim “fully” 28 percent “tend to agree”.
There is the highest level of agreement to a computer science a compulsory subject with teachers from STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science and natural sciences). Of these, 82 percent are for such an adjustment. Of the teachers of German and foreign languages as well as other subjects are each more than two-thirds of compulsory computer science-hours (71 percent and 68 percent).
“BITKOM for some time committed to the introduction of computer science as a compulsory subject in secondary education. The survey shows that while we can count on the support of the teacher, the school and students certainly know best, “said BITKOM President Prof. Dieter Kempf in advance of the education fair Didacta in Stuttgart. “We do not train for every programmer, just as every student needs to become a physicist or chemist. Computer science but shall not depend only on particularly interested, but must be seen as part of general education. “Refocusing the curriculum must also be supplemented by a wide-ranging promotion of media literacy. Kempf: “Media literacy should be already defined in the primary school as a key learning objective and play an appropriate role in all subjects.”
Yes, how are we looking for in you in the school, if you still go to school (or have children who go to school)? It gave to my school days so something not even begin, the Computer AG was the maximum that you could make. Times have changed rapidly and I would definitely want that computer science for my son a solid school subject, since the work IT and network must be left in no case aside.
