Swift switches Fox-IT in order to improve security

The organization for interbank traffic Swift has two security firms hired to help with the screening of security of their customers and detect potential hacks.

The measures follow a series of hacks at banks in Vietnam, Ecuador, Ukraine and Bangladesh. The hack on the central Bangladesh Bank knew criminals dollars 81 million to loot. The criminals could rob banks include adjusting certain client software. After the hacks announced to introduce Swift to a new security policy. Despite the mistakes by the banks are self made, Swift could play a more active role in the field of security.

The two Swift hired companies become part of a task force inquiry into security incidents within environments of customers, writes The Wall Street Journal. Before that the Fox-IT Delft and BAE Systems in London hired.

Users of Swift have an obligation to share information on a regular basis about attacks on their networks. That information used Swift to investigate software used for attacks and for signs of possible intruders. Swift brings that information together and publishes its users under the heading “Indicators of compromise.”

Swift is an international organization which financial institutions exchange information on transactions and is used by some 11,000 institutions around the world.
