Synaptics makes touch-sensitive spacebar available
Synaptics is starting to supply the SmartBar to manufacturers, as the company announced during Computex. The technology adds touch sensitivity to space beams, allowing users to zoom example, without having to grab the mouse.
The SmartBar technology is designed for laptop and desktop keyboards. Among other Thermaltake will use the technology for keyboards in his Tt eSports branch. According to the company adding touch to space beams makes sense, since the thumbs often already there to rest when typing.
The touch sensitivity allows users to scroll vertically by keeping a finger on the spacebar and move another finger back and forth. Zooming in and out can be done by fingers apart and moving it to another long key and there is the ability to select text and make menus appear with gestures. Furthermore Synaptics delivers a macro editor to assign actions to a maximum of five virtual buttons.
According Synaptics is the SmartBar directly available to system builders, but which manufacturers will use the technology next Thermaltake is not yet known. Synaptics tries with innovative techniques to expand its portfolio. Among others, the group integrates fingerprint readers , for example trackpads.Viewing:-150
