Appearance

Although the design of a monitor most times doesn’t have any impact on gaming experience, it is still something you want to look at.

The Spectre 27″ curved gaming monitor is a 27-Inch monitor that has an aesthetically pleasing design. It features a 1800r curve combined with its ultra-slim edgeless bezel design and black-colored chassis, which makes it look cool.

Although the curve of this monitor isn’t so badass, as some other curved monitors on the market, it’ll still enhance your gaming experience and make gaming more immersive.

It features a 75mm x 75mm VESA wall mountable V-shaped stand that can be tilted 5° forward and 15° backward.

However, it lacks height adjustability, so the stand’s height is stuck. Also, this monitor is stuck in landscape mode and can’t be rotated into portrait mode.

Furthermore, for those who love monitors with lighting effects on the panel, you might be disappointed because this monitor doesn’t have such. Its panel is plain without any special lighting. However, as we said earlier, this feature in no way affects your gaming in any way.

Display and Specs

The Spectre 27″ is a VA paneled 1920 x 1080p FHD curved monitor with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Although it features a small screen size of 27 Inches, it makes up for that with its amazing refresh rate that reaches up to 165Hz and a response time of 3ms.

With a resolution of 1080p, a refresh rate of 165Hz, and a response time of 3ms, you’re getting super high frame rates per second (FPS) which is great for competitive gaming. These features will help deliver non-blurry images and make gaming more enjoyable. Also, it has viewing angles of 178°/178°.

Furthermore, this monitor features two custom game modes: FPS (First-Person Shooter) and RTS (Real Time Strategy). These two modes are meant to enhance your gaming experience. This monitor is perfect for games like Apex Legend, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, etc.

VA paneled monitors usually deliver vibrant colors and this monitor is pretty decent in that aspect.

Sceptre C275B-1858RN Review

It features a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a 95% wide color gamut with a color depth of 16.7 million. The contrast ratio of this monitor is pretty excellent for a $300-ish gaming monitor. The contrast ratio combined with the color gamut and depth gives this display its clear and beautiful colors.

Usually, monitors with this sort of contrast ratio are more expensive. There are few monitors within the $350-$400 budget with this contrast ratio.

One downside to this monitor in terms of the display is the brightness. It can only reach a maximum brightness of 250 cd/m2, which isn’t great for a gaming monitor.

Although the brightness is not so bad for this monitor’s price but, it could use a little more brightness. A higher brightness means better and brighter colors, and brighter colors will make gaming more enjoyable.

Another downside is that this monitor doesn’t have HDR support. Monitors with HDR support usually have better colors, contrast, and image quality.

Even though monitors with low max brightness won’t give you the best HDR experience, it’s still better when a monitor has HDR support.

However, the Spectre 27″ curved gaming monitor is still very decent in terms of its display and specs.

Adaptive Sync Tech

You don’t have to worry about screen tearing or stuttering while gaming, as this monitor features AMD Free Sync premium support.

The AMD Free Sync tech helps to deliver high-level performance and low latency while gaming by enhancing the frame rate of this monitor.

However, you need to make use of the display port to be able to use the Free Sync feature.

Ports and Audio

The Spectre 27″ curved gaming monitor has 2x HDMI ports: HDMI 2.0 and 1,4.

With HDMI 2.0, you can get a refresh rate of up to 144Hz; on HDMI 1.4, you can get a refresh rate of only 120Hz.

You need to use the display port to get the best refresh rate this monitor offers. It features a display port 1.4, which allows gaming at 165Hz.

This monitor doesn’t come with any USB port at all. If you need a monitor with a USB port, you might want to look at other options.

For ports, this monitor isn’t so impressive, to be honest.

Also, this monitor comes with an audio jack and two inbuilt speakers, which don’t sound too terrible but don’t sound so great either.

Final Verdict

Overall, from all the features we have looked at in this guide, the Spectre 27″ gaming monitor is pretty amazing. It’s one of the best budget monitors you can get to satisfy your gaming needs.

However, if you want a monitor with HDR support and USB ports, you probably should go for something else.
