Tech institute Fraunhofer opens office in Netherlands




Netherlands for the first time, a branch of the Fraunhofer Institute. Europe’s largest nonprofit applied engineering research is this long-term cooperation with the University of Twente.

Fraunhofer The campus of the University of Twente gets a Fraunhofer Project Center for Design and Production Engineering Complex in High-Tech Systems. Initially, the center will work on technical research based on questions from industry. This will be done both by young engineers and researchers from the University of Twente and Saxion University. In the long term, the center should become an independent institute.

It is the first time that Fraunhofer offices in the Netherlands scheme and purpose is that the university and Fraunhofer enter into a long-term cooperation. Fraunhofer is the largest organization for research and development in Europe, with 23,000 employees and more than eighty offices, especially in Germany. The organization is comparable with TNO and focuses on bringing research results to the market.
