Tele2: nothing wrong with provider as’ dumb data pipe “for Internet only




Tele2 would find it fine to function as a ‘dumb data pipe’, which gives customers access the Internet without offering other services. “If making money is as dumb pipe, why not?” Asks CEO Fedor Hoevenaars himself.

We can make various services and thus make a bundle, but many customers find it fine if you give them a pipe.” According Hoevenaars there’s no money in additional services. “There is nothing wrong with giving access only.” Hoevenaars spoke at telecom Telecom Time fair in Utrecht.

Providers of both fixed and mobile internet trying in various ways to provide additional services and then make money. For example, wired internet providers often provide security for an additional charge. Mobile Internet is understood to include backup systems and web storage.
