Telegram allows users to delete unlimited messages

from private chats
Telegram users can now delete messages in 1-to-1 chats, regardless of how old those messages are. Previously there was a maximum period of 48 hours. After deletion, no message is left that a message has been removed, something competitor WhatsApp does.

The function also applies to the messages from the other party. Not only can individual messages be removed, but also entire chat logs, after which it seems as if the two parties never had contact. These new options do not apply to group discussions.

Competitors also have the delete function, but more limited. With WhatsApp it can take just over an hour, Facebook Messenger gives you ten minutes to withdraw a message.

Furthermore, restrictions are now possible in Telegram when it comes to forwarded messages. The author is mentioned with those messages, but the author can now indicate whether his name is clickable or not. If not, then others cannot just send messages to them.

Furthermore, the Russian developers of Telegram report that it is easier to find gifs, emoji and stickers and that call quality in the app has improved. The update, with version number 5.5, is available immediately through both Apple and Google app stores.
