Telenet allows customers to make mobile calls via Wi-Fi connection and 4G network

Belgian telecom provider Telenet has announced that mobile customers will soon be able to call not only via the 2g and 3g network, but also through 4g, or VoLTE. In addition, Telenet customers will soon be able to make mobile calls via a Wi-Fi connection.

Telenet reports that the addition of these options has become possible due to investments made in recent years. According to the provider, these make it possible to transport more data faster over the network, leaving room for technology such as VoLTE and Vowifi. From the summer this will be available step-by-step for a number of customers. Telenet says that it is the first Belgian provider that Vowifi offers.

The provider states that a compatible smartphone automatically selects the most suitable network for the best call quality during a call from home. If the mobile range is limited due to good indoor insulation, the connection will seamlessly transfer to the Wi-Fi network.

With this technology, the call traffic via the own router goes to the systems of the provider, after which it is in fact a regular phone call. According to the providers VoLTE and Vowifi ensure that customers in their home no longer depend on a good range and are no longer bothered by any thick walls or insulation.
