Telenor is working on inexpensive webcam with Firefox OS

Telecom provider Telenor is working on a webcam that is based on Firefox OS. It must be a low-price device that video images can spread via the Internet and is also able to shoot pictures.

The Norwegian company has details on its Firefox OS webcam, named Gonzo, on his website put . According to Telenor the device should be particularly cheap, which is put in front of the “disposable prices” in the market. The Gonzo movie can be distributed via the internet: to view the pictures is only the correct url necessary. In addition, the device every few minutes photos, so a kind of time-lapse video can be made.

Gonzo is always on, and can be built with battery for about a month shoot images. Connection to the Internet is established through a 2g-connection, which means that it is going to capture images in low resolution in view of the limited bandwidth of 2G networks.

Firefox OS webcam is part of Tele Gruff ‘Exploratory Engineering’ program. The idea is that three months working on the project, but it is still unclear whether and when Gonzo comes on the market and at what price.
