John Romero, known for the games Quake and Doom, has decided to stop the recently launched Kickstarter campaign for the game Black Room. He first wants to develop a gameplay demo to potential supporters out to show more of the game.
Romero has a message on the kickstarter page posted that is readable only by the backers of the project. But let him across the site Develop know that the decision was motivated by the fact that there were many enthusiastic responses to the idea, but that people first wanted to see more. Romero explains that there are already working on a demo, but that it will not be ready before the end of the Kickstarter campaign.
“We would day and night to work on it,” Romero adds, “but that’s not how we work.” He explains that he saw among many other YouTube comments, but this is not translated into more backers. Romero says to understand that this is due to the fact that he could not show any gameplay. That’s why he stopped the campaign for a limited time, the demo is finished in about two months.
