The International DotA 2 tournament starts on May 12 2014
The fourth “The International” DotA 2 tournament starts on May 12. Valve has officially announced the tournament Wednesday at the site of the Moba game. There compete this year a total of 51 teams participated.
The participating teams have forty qualified and there are eleven invited. The tournament starts on Monday, May 12th with the duels of the forty qualified teams. From America, Southeast Asia, China and Europe by region ten teams know themselves to qualify for these preliminaries. The European teams will play from 24 to 27 May each day together. The games take place from twelve noon Dutch time.
The winners of each region go directly through to the next round of the tournament. The four teams in their region, finishing second, play against each other for a spot in the next round. Of them end up going to another team through. Then the five remaining teams with the invited teams between 18 and 21 July at will play the first place of the tournament.
Among the eleven invited teams are among other champions of the past three years; Natus Vincere, Invictus Gaming and Alliance. The winner of last year, Alliance, received more than $ 1.4 million in prize money. The total prize pool was then nearly three million dollars.
The prize pool of the tournament grew as more players called Compendium Bundle bought. This is a bundle gamers extra bonuses earned as more players bought the bundle. Of each beam, there was 25 percent, which equates to $ 2.50, for the prize of the tournament. How much is in the prize this year is not yet known.
