The number of active Facebook users is rising again in Europe

The number of active users of Facebook is increasing again in Europe after having dropped the previous two quarters. Worldwide, the number of users continues to increase, there are now 2.3 billion people who log in to Facebook every month.

The increase is apparent from Facebook ‘s quarterly figures , which are the last three months of 2018. In the fourth quarter, there were 381 million monthly active users in Europe, 6 million more than a quarter earlier. With the increase, the decline in Facebook use in Europe that was visible in the past two quarters has been canceled out. There are now more monthly active users on Facebook in Europe than at the beginning of last year.

The use of Facebook also increased in other parts of the world. Worldwide, according to the social network, there are now 2.3 billion monthly active users. A year ago there were 2.1 billion. The number of daily active users increased to 1.5 billion, a year earlier that was 1.4 billion. Facebook estimates that 2.7 billion people worldwide use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger every month. More than 2 billion people would use at least one of these services daily.

The turnover of Facebook grew considerably. That was 16.9 billion dollars in the fourth quarter and 30 percent higher than in the same quarter a year earlier. The revenue of Facebook comes almost exclusively from advertisements, which amounted to 16.6 billion dollars. 93 percent of this comes from advertisements that are displayed on mobile devices. A year ago that was 89 percent. Facebook has a net profit of 6.9 billion dollars, an increase of 61 percent compared to a year earlier.

The figures for the whole of 2018 are also known with the presentation of the figures for the fourth quarter. That year was good for a turnover of 55 billion dollars, 38 percent more than in 2017. The profit came to 22.1 billion dollars, an increase of 39 percent.
