Find a Question:
The suffering that Android updates hot – Will my device updates, and when?
When will there be an update for my phone? Daily posts tens to hundreds tweakers a demand to this effect on Tweakers. It sometimes seems like a slot machine; Suddenly there is an update to some variants of a device and others do not. The way expired updates on Android devices is very transparent and frustrating for users.
There are basically two reasons why people want updates. The first is the ability to try new features. Google keeps adding new business to Android, and an update then again promises to add functionality to a phone. The second is security. Security researchers often find exploits in Android. Google closed the leaks, some large and others small, monthly patch rounds. Updates to keep aircraft safely are obviously more important than new features, but such updates are just like those in Windows only annoying for the user: the device is as useless and as the update is finished, you see nothing new. Nevertheless, more and more manufacturers and users see the usefulness and necessity of such updates.
The security of Android came last year in the news with Stage Fright , a leak in the video framework that could take many aircraft and that has had a major impact on the attitude of companies towards updates on Android. Stage Fright was led Google to begin the monthly patch round, and include Samsung, LG and Sony reason those updates by moving as quickly as possible to users.
We are now more than half a year on, but better is not. The Dutch Consumers’ Samsung to court sued because of the lack of transparency about updates. The union demands that Samsung devices continues to support two years after people they bought, while Samsung focuses on support for two years after release. The judgment in that case was on 8 March.
Indicative of the attention getting updates from manufacturers are the responses from manufacturers. Only Samsung and Sony gave a comprehensive reply, while HTC sent some short answers. Although they were three weeks time, other manufacturers did not answer.
Even without the answers of many Android manufacturers, the questions remain. How about now with updates to Android devices and why it remains such a drama?Viewing:-160
