Canonical also decided to confirm information about the closure of Ubuntu Andoird, specifying:
“We were quite pleased with the reaction to the new version of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS for desktop solutions and earliest images of the Ubuntu operating system for phones. We believe that this development has shown the willingness and desire to Ubuntu-market devices, and Ubuntu for Android (U4A) would be the perfect solution to meet these needs. ”
“We continue to believe that U4A is a great concept and product buyers would be nice to have adopted it. However, development of the Ubuntu project U4A completed. For further development, we need partnerships that would provide opportunities modification to Android ».
“At the moment no discussions with partners on these issues are not kept, but we are still in every way open to this type of cooperation. The company is now fully focused on developing Ubuntu for smartphones and produces no work in advancing the project Ubuntu for Android. However, in the presence of interested parties in this project, we always look forward to continuing work on the project Ubuntu for Android ».
