Tim Cook: I think Google search engine is the best




Apple CEO Tim Cook defends in an interview that his company makes Google the default search engine for the iPhone, which Apple reportedly receives billions of dollars from Google. Cook does this because, according to him, there is no better alternative.

Opposite Axios from HBO Tim Cook says that he thinks Google’s search engine is the best. He said this in the context of a position against a critical question whether it fits with Apple that the company takes money from Google to set it as the central search engine on iPhones, while Apple also often says it is important to find the privacy of protect its users.

In that context, Cook states that his company has set up a lot of means of control with its own Safari browser in order to protect privacy. For example, he states that private browsing is possible and that ‘intelligent tracker prevention’ is present. He states that Apple helps users in their daily activities in various ways, but that collaboration with Google is not perfect.

Press agency Bloomberg put a number of estimates of analysts side by side in September, about how much money Apple gets from Google for setting Google as the default search engine. The estimates range from 3 to 9 billion dollars, although most estimates are from 3 to 4 billion dollars a year.
