Tim Cook: I’m gay and proud of it

Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke of his sexual orientation. This is a top manager announced in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek.

“Until now, I did not recognize the public in its orientation. Now I want to be clear: I am proud that I am gay, and I think this is one of the greatest gifts from God, “- said the CEO.

“Throughout my career I have tried to maintain a certain level of privacy in regard to my personal life. Thus for many years I do not hide their orientation, and many of my colleagues at Apple know that I’m gay, and it does not affect their attitude towards me, “- he said.

“I do not consider myself an activist. But if the news that CEO Apple is gay, will help someone to accept yourself for what it is, or inspire people to fight for equal rights, it would be equivalent to the exchange of the secret of my private life “- the article says.

Rumors of gay head of Apple went long. Last year, US magazine Out Magazine recognized Tim Cook the most influential representative of sexual orientation in the United States.

Earlier this year, Cook spoke in support of the law prohibiting employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender (Employment Non-discrimination Act), which is discussed in the US Congress. He urged the Senate to expedite consideration of adopting a law in honor of the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Civil Rights Act.
