Topman parent company Ziggo wants merger with Vodafone Netherlands




The CEO of Liberty Global, parent company of Ziggo would like to see his company in the Netherlands coincides with Vodafone. A merger of “tremendous value” according to the president. He also says that mobile operators Ziggo will take over in countries like the Netherlands.

In an interview with Bloomberg says the chairman of Liberty Global, John Malone, the group’s mobile operators will take over in countries where the company is large enough, such as the Netherlands. He also mentions the possibilities to go along with Vodafone. “We looked at it from our position and would achieve substantial benefits if we find a way to work together or combine the companies in Western Europe,” said the CEO.

He calls thereby explicitly Netherlands as a country where for example, shareholders would benefit from it. In addition, he mentioned Germany and the United Kingdom. Details on the plans of the group he did not and he emphasized do not bid on any company.

Last year, Liberty Global on Ziggo and UPC and Ziggo has since been merged. There have long been rumors of mutual interest between Liberty Global and Vodafone. Last year showed Vodafone director Vittorio Colao already know that his company is considering an acquisition of Liberty Global.

A resulting company would have networks for both fixed and mobile internet. In Belgium took Telenet, also part of Liberty Global, recently the mobile operator Base KPN.
