Toshiba provides 12.5 “-convertible 4k screen




Toshiba has a 12.5 “-convertible announced that is equipped with a 4k screen. It is about the radius 12 and Satellite according to Toshiba, it is the first hybrid 12.5” laptop which is provided with a screen with a resolution of this kind .

Radius 12 is according to Toshiba in two versions: one with a FullHD display and a screen resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. In both cases, these touch screens with support for ten touch points, which are covered with Gorilla Glass, which should help prevent scratching. The amount of pixels per inch in the 4K model at 362 and the screen is adjusted using Technicolor and Chroma Tune, for faithful reproduction of colors. The difference between the two versions is also in the battery life: Toshiba reports that the 1080p model lasts up to 8 hours on a full charge and the 4K model until 6pm, although not known to which scenario is measured.

The two notebook models are equipped with an Intel Core processor of the sixth generation, or Skylake, but Toshiba does not provide specific information apart from that a Core i7 is in the top model. The processor has 8GB lpddr3-RAM with a speed of 1600MHz at his disposal, and data storage is on an SSD with m.2 factor and storage capacity of 512GB. Graphics are handled by Intel’s integrated HD 520 GPU.

The convertible has one USB 3.1 Type-C interface, two USB 3.1 ports, and support for Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band ac wifi. The video output is via HDMI and optional via Intel Wireless Display. The webcam also has infrared capabilities and therefore supports Windows Hello, enabling users using face can quickly login.

The laptop is 15,4mm thick, 1,32kg heavy, and the hinge can bend 360 degrees until the screen and keyboard sit with their backs against each other. The housing is made of brushed aluminum and the keyboard is backlit with LEDs.

A similar 13.3 “laptop earlier in the year shown at the Computex trade show in Taipei, but was still not aware of the convertible apart from that it is equipped with a 4K screen. In the fourth quarter, the Toshiba Satellite Radius 12 on the market, but the price is not yet public.
