Trend Micro takes over from HP TippingPoint




Anti-virus software maker Trend Micro acquired TippingPoint, a division of HP which specializes in protecting networks. Trend Micro count down $ 300 million for the acquisition. The companies worked together since last year.

TippingPoint enables prevention systems to keep unwanted visitors out networks. In addition, commends the rewards out of security experts to find critical security issues as part of the Zero Day Initiative, through amongst others the Pwn2Own competition.

The acquisition takes Trend Micro’s expertise, experience, customer base and the intellectual property of TippingPoint home. The anti-virus company says that after the completion of the acquisition a new Network Defence branch will target companies. That should more than 3500 corporate customers are served.

End 2014 announced Trend Micro already a strategic collaboration oem reserve area to HP. HP uses components of the intrusion prevention systems in its network division. The acquisition is expected before the end of this year all the way around.
