Initially the plan of the new smartphone maker to deliver the Turing Phone in December 2015, but was postponed until April 2016. This delay coincided with the announcement of the switch to Sailfish OS instead of Android. The location specified deadline is not met, the company, people who ordered the smartphone have now heard through a newsletter that the first copies will be shipped from July 12th.
The delay, according to the CEO of Turing Robotc Industries due to the material for the housing. Which consists of a metal alloy TRI himself calls liquidmorphium. It is an alloy of zirconium, aluminum, copper, nickel and titanium. “The first batch Turing Phones comes as evaluation units, because we want to upgrade your appliance, the Snapdragon 820-edition by the end of 2016,” CEO Syl Chao wrote in the letter. The original device has a Snapdragon 801-soc on board and TRI made in December known that there would be a newer model in 2016, with a Snapdragon 820. At that time, however, the manufacturer spoke of a new phone, but now the CEO seems to say the first model gets an upgrade to Qualcomm’s new soc.
Only customers who have placed a pre-order for the Turing Phone 2015 receive the upgrade to the Snapdragon 820-soc free. It is not yet clear how TRI will perform the upgrade, probably have customers who receive it return their unit in July. It seems unlikely that TRI can only replace the soc, may be placed there a new motherboard.Viewing:-94
