TV and picture quality – no more, but better pixels
Although there are still very few images in ultra high definition falls view, all TV manufacturers are offering UHDTV’s on. They are available in large sizes, but also in very small, when the difference with ordinary HDTVs can hardly be seen. Meanwhile, for every budget can find a UHDTV; the cheapest models can be found for around five hundred euros in the Pricewatch. Improve the picture by simply adding more pixels seems for most living room pretty pointless, because the extra pixels are visible only at very large image sizes and a short distance from the screen.
In an earlier background article we discussed what other possibilities there are to improve the TV picture and the recent CES in Las Vegas, we could see that manufacturers are indeed committed to improving the many pixels that counts UHDTV instead of further increasing the number thereof. Different brands showed TVs that have a larger range of colors by using quantum dots in the backlight than the current generation. There were also to see the first models that can display images with a wider dynamic range.
It is on the one hand, of course, nice to see that developments in television is not standing still. On the other hand, you may wonder what the point of these additions is like two years after the introduction of its UHDTV’s purchase still makes little sense, because it is still great lack of associate professors content.
