Online video streaming platform Twitch gets the option to combine multiple streams from the same game and the same team in a single stream. In addition, the moderation tools are also being expanded to combat undesirable behavior more effectively.

Twitch announced the news during his own annual TwitchCon fair, where it held a keynote . The function to combine multiple streams in a single stream is called Squad Streaming and is, for example, a godsend when watching a game of a battle royale game. In the presentation you can see that a button appears called ‘watch squad’, which ensures that up to four streams appear in the window. Apparently, it is also possible to tinker with the size of the streams. Later this year, the function will be introduced to a select group of streamers as part of a first test.

The new moderation tools make it possible to see how long an individual viewer is on Twitch, which messages he has sent in a chat and how many time-outs and bans he has received in the past. This is to make it easier for moderators to see what kind of measures should be imposed on a nuisance user. These additions are expected in January of next year.

Twitch also enters into a partnership with Rock Band developer Harmonix. Together the two companies develop Twitch Sings, a streaming karaoke game. Users can vote for songs here and give the streamers special challenges and, for example, use cheers to control light effects in the studio.

Twitch also announces that the number of viewers is not below 1 million viewers at any time, which is a third more than the 746,000 last year. The platform has put a summary of all further upcoming additions on its site.
