Twitter removes limit of 140 characters in DM’s




Twitter will allow in July to send personal messages that contain more than 140 characters. At regular tweets limit remains in effect. The announcement comes at the time when the CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo, leaves office.

According to Twitter, the removal of the limit of 140 characters, the first step in a series of enhancements for direct messages. The microblogging service warns developers that they update their apps and customize the user interface in the longer dm texts. The amendment puts Twitter more emphasis on personal communication. The basis of the service, public messages of 140 characters, will remain unchanged.

At the same time announced that its director Twitter, Dick Costolo, has resigned. The CEO was already a time under fire because Twitter does not succeed, the number of users significantly grow.
