Twitter sent group messages to Vine users warning them that a service breach might have caused their e-mail addresses to be detected, as well as their phone numbers.

Twitter, which is currently struggling to ease its workload to improve its business, announced late last October its intention to close Fain, as well as lay off an estimated 9% of its workforce, after failing to persuade other companies to acquire it.

After a $ 30 million acquisition of Twitter in October 2012, FINE played a pivotal role in bringing short six seconds of video to Twitter.

“We would like to inform the Fain community that we have been alerted and immediately corrected a gap that has affected the Fine Archive for less than 24 hours,” Launline said in a publication through its account on the medium blogging platform Medium. “The vulnerability would have revealed e-mail addresses and phone numbers associated with FINE accounts for third parties under certain circumstances.”

FINE reported that it had informed all affected account holders that their e-mail addresses were in the file, and for users who did not receive the e-mail, the service confirmed that they had not been affected by the vulnerability.

As for the damage caused by the vulnerability, FINE also confirmed that it did not notice that any user information affected by this incident was misused, warning users against e-mail messages or text messages from unknown persons.

Twitter has not completely finished Fain, re-launching it as a camera application called Vine Camera, allowing users to shoot short 6.5-second videos and then share them on Twitter or store them on the device. The application is available on Android and iOS .
