Find a Question:
Two of Saturn’s moon in one frame
Photo of the day |
Space research apparatus NASA «Cassini” sent the new news: the photo of the two of Saturn’s moons – Mimas and Pandora, caught in one frame. Pandora, a smaller body in the picture, has a low density that because of this even has an irregular elongated shape. The size of the Pandora is only 81 km.
Compared with Pandora, Mimas looks giant. Moreover, at this angle (as pictured above) for some reason he looks like a “Death Star” of all known space saga. Maybe it’s just my overactive imagination, but it is so in this photo Mimas me and reported.
This image was taken on May 14 2013 , at a distance of approximately 1.1 million kilometers from Mimas and 1.2 million kilometers of Pandora.
The very planet Saturn has 62 natural satellites, and only 53 of them have received their official names. Titan, the largest satellite of Saturn, and is the second of its largest (after Jupiter’s Ganymede) in our solar system. It is even larger than the planet Mercury.
We also see (who did not) to Earth, imprinted “Cassini” against the background of the rings of Saturn.
