Two-step Authentication in PayPal can be activated

While the PayPal option in the Netherlands and Belgium still does not offer, though it appears to be possible to activate two-step authentication via a detour. After completing their phone via a link, users receive a unique code sent via SMS with every login attempt.

The ability via a link to register a telephone number in the US PayPal website, was accidentally discovered by tweaker geekeep. Various Dutch and Belgian confirm tweakers in the topic that they two-step authentication in this way were able to activate their account. Also Tweakers himself can confirm that the feature works. PayPal sends text messages in Dutch and the login page that asks for a code has been translated into Dutch.

There are indications that PayPal is engaged with the activation of the two-stage authentication for Dutch accounts. Whoever logs into his PayPal profile, get to see the new website interface. When security tab is currently not see any option to set a security key, but by ‘Login with PayPal “button, the user in the old interface ends up. This can be clicked through to the profile, by taking institutions is then see the “Security key”. Again, users can already activate two-step authentication.

However, it is noticeable that the link “More information about ordering PayPal security key ‘does not work yet. This reinforces the suspicion that PayPal is still in the process of implementing two-factor authentication for Dutch accounts. In other countries for a long time use can be made of the extra layer of security.
