Uber works with robotics research on self-propelled vehicles




Uber will conduct research into self-propelled vehicles and making plans, as the company announced. The Internet company for transport collaborates with Carnegie Mellon University in setting up the research facility.

Uber Part of the collaboration between Uber and Carnegie Mellon University is the creation of the Uber Advanced Technologies Center in Pittsburgh, at the university campus. In addition, the Parties do research at the National Robotics Engineering Center.

The research will focus on mapping, vehicle safety and autonomous technology. According to TechCrunch Uber takes fifty scientists from the University and the National Robotics Engineering Center employees. The center was responsible for the development of the Mars Rover.

Uber makes now use the map technology include Apple and Google, but the company would have long been working on own technology. According to Bloomberg, Google is in turn engaged with an app that will provide the capability of Uber, which two companies are competitors would worden.Google has invested millions in Uber and the legal head of the search engine company, David Drummond, takes a seat on the board of directors of the company.

The Wall Street Journal report , however, that this message has been exaggerated and that it is merely an internal app that use Google employees to carpool. The app could also have a relationship with Google’s project for autonomous vehicles.
