Ubuntu for smartphones Preview – Getting started with the first Ubuntu phones




About two years ago we saw at CES in Las Vegas for the first time, the smartphone version of Ubuntu. In the period before they were at Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, all concerned with getting Ubuntu working on phones, but the company then hitchhiked along with Android. The first demo was therefore based on CyanogenMod. Canonical also still worked for a time on a hybrid solution with Android and Ubuntu. While Android was the main OS and Ubuntu was started as soon as the device was placed in a docking station.
