Ubuntu version Meizu MX4 comes later this month in Europe from ‘




Chinese hardware manufacturer Meizu would the Ubuntu version of the Meizu MX 4 mid-June release in Europe. Thus, the converted Android telefooon is the second smartphone with Ubuntu which opens in Europe.

That writes Omgubuntu based sources. The smartphone with a 2GHz clocked octacore MediaTek MT6595-soc came in May in China’s market . The European price is set at 299 euros. Furthermore, the phone comes with a 5.4 “-ips screen with a resolution of 1920 by 1152 pixels, and the device has 2GB of RAM with 16GB flash storage. The main camera has 20.7 megapixels and the front camera has 2MP.

The sale of the phone will be made in limited edition by invitation. An invitation can obtain at first only by going to the Meizu website and search there for an invitation in an ‘interactive origami wall. There would be several hundred calls per day are available. The reason for this cumbersome way would be to sell, in addition to creating commotion that there is a low supply and so only people who know what they are buying, buying the unit.

Meizu also would be an image of Ubuntu Phone OS to make available in the near future, so it may be possible to flash an Android Meizu MX 4 with Flyme to a Ubuntu Phone OS version.

Besides Meizu comes BQ this month with Ubuntu smartphone on the market. The E5 comes in addition to the previously published E4.5 and has a 5 “screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The processor is a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 on up to 1.3GHz. The phone will cost 199 euros.
