Microsoft has quietly rolled out an update to Windows 7 and 8.1 that the files for the upcoming Windows 10 release can be downloaded. The “recommended” update should be installed manually.

It comes to Windows Update KB3035583 . According to Microsoft’s description, this update adds new notifications to Windows Update to the user to indicate when new updates are available. A closer inspection of the relevant patch files by Myce website shows that an executable is found between the installed files that seems intended to bring in the installation files of Windows 10.

In a configuration file named config.xml are complementary to find some URLs that include seem to refer to a download location and address in order to measure the number of visits. It also contains references to the ‘stages’ in which, presumably shortly before the public release of Windows 10, the user via pop-ups highlighted the advent of Microsoft’s latest operating system.

It is still unclear whether the KB3035583 update at a later stage “recommended” status update gets the status of a normal update, so it will be installed automatically. Expected, Microsoft Windows 10 in mid-2015 officially out. The first year will be upgrading to the new OS is free for users of Windows 7 and 8.1.
