According to the White House, the American president Trump will sign a decree on Monday in which the US declares that it will focus more on the development of artificial intelligence. However, there would be no concrete talk about more subsidies.

Several technology and science websites, including Science Magazine , were told by a senior official in the Donald Trump government on Sunday what the plans are going to be. However, the information provision is currently limited to the main lines of the so-called American AI Initiative.

The plans state that government agencies will be asked to give priority to research when it comes to research. This can be done in the form of budget, computing power and planning. Furthermore, the National Institute of Standards and Technology is being asked to develop standards to make future AI systems “reliable, robust, safe, portable and compatible”. International cooperation is also desirable, but only when it is in the interests of the US.

Finally, the side effects of ai are also looked at. The plans state that workers must be prepared for a labor market that is changing by means of internships and training.

The research department of the American defense, Darpa, already had the plans. Of its own accord, it stopped $ 2 billion in research into ai, as announced in September last year. Europe is also investing billions in ai development, in an attempt not to lag behind China and the US.
