USB Audio Device Class 3.0 for transfers via USB Type-C
The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) has announced that the specifications of the USB Audio Device Class 3.0 were finalized. On most essential is to the standard that it now allows audio transmissions are via USB Type-C. This in turn switches for manufacturers as smartphones and tablets, the option to dispense freely in future on a separate 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, the USB port would be used for headphones. Apple has already made inroads in a similar direction and the 3.5mm port on the new iPhone 7/7 Plus already deleted.
Now the traditional headphone jack seems may soon not to threaten the off, the connection enables USB Type-C should establish the medium as an interface for audio. Unfortunately, however, not yet clear whether the finalization of the USB Audio Device Class 3.0 means that also already sold devices with a compatible connector will support audio broadcast or the features are only available on new devices.
The USB-IF wishes in any case that USB Type-C now becomes the “solution of choice” for all digital audio transmissions. It therefore hopes that a rapid spread of mobile devices, VR solutions, gaming hardware and docking stations. Man believes that USB Type-C is superior in this respect other interfaces, there can be both data, power and audio transfer. Clearly, you also mentioned quite directly that manufacturers now could save the 3.5mm port, which would make devices up to a millimeter slimmer.
Fewer connections allow producers of course also to keep their devices z. B. lighter waterproof. How USB Audio Device Class 3.0 or audio transmissions propagate via USB Type-C, now has but time will tell. There is in fact clear benefits for manufacturers, so it will be interesting.Viewing:-91
