for Steam.tv online
In the night from Friday to Saturday, Steam developer Valve briefly put the website Steam.tv online. Users could watch live streams, use the Steam Chat including voice chat and invite friends to watch a live stream together.

The website is now blank again . The only stream that could be watched was The International, the big annual Dota 2 tournament organized by Valve. Steam already offers the ability to live stream for friends and strangers and sometimes shows live live streams at the top of the respective Steam Store pages. However, disconnecting the streaming parts from the rest of Valve’s gaming platform is something new and suggests that Valve might want to enter into competition with Twitch, Mixer and YouTube Gaming.

For the time being, however, Valve denies this. The website would be intended as an internal test and the purpose of the site would be to put The International more in the spotlight. It had not been the intention that Steam.tv was public. That is what a representative tells CNET. The same CNET has also managed to make some screenshots of the Steam.tv interface. It is expected that at the time of the main event of The International, from 20 to 25 August, the public can explore Steam.tv themselves.
