Valve may work mods paid to relaunch on Steam

Valve is possible in the near future reintroduce paid mods on Steam. That would show small changes in texts Workshop pages of mods and in the Steam Translation Server.

In addition Facepunch-User reported about a month ago that new texts were added concerning paid mods to the Steam Translation Server. That’s where volunteers pick up English texts to translate for Valve. “Valve has just a load of strings to the server added regarding paid mods, monetization controlled by authors, profit sharing and more,” he says. What these strings are exactly, is unclear.

Valve introduced the option for paid mods in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in April last year. After a storm of criticism, the company was again however this decision again . The system was hampered by plagiarism of modmakers themselves and users complained about the questionable aspect of paid mods that contain copyrighted material from another party. Valve did not comment himself about the reintroduction of paid mods, but said at the abolition in April 2015 already that there was a preliminary elimination.
